I ground up some galangal to make Chaoshan-style pickled vegetables—it smells so good! Such a familiar taste!
Since there's quite a lot of it, I cut it up and freeze it to make it last longer. It smells great and is an essential ingredient in Thai cuisine.
This was really tough, I don't think I got a fresh batch. Had to throw away most of it.

I got fresh ginger instead of galangal. I almost got fooled, even Gemini confirmed it's galangal. I tasted it and it's ginger.

It doesn't look like the picture (the picture shows a Vietnamese man with a mustache, but he calls it American mandarin orange).
