Probably just bad luck. I bought 3 crabs. 2 were rotten, no meat, no roe. 1 had a little roe, but the meat was salty. Overall, it was my first time buying them, so 3 out of 10. If I'm lucky, I'll get one with roe that's okay to eat. Otherwise, it's just

Delicious battered fried crab
It's soft and easy to cook, with a good texture, but the flavor isn't as delicious as hard-shell crab.
