Don't look for squid. True to its name, this is squid jeotgal meant to be mixed with rice. It is delicious as a side dish with rice with a little sesame oil added. It is even better because it is made with real squid, not giant squid.
It tastes good if you portion it out, freeze it, and eat it with scorched rice.
The container has changed? It feels much smaller. The taste is good though. The squid is cut into small pieces, so even my American husband ate it with relatively less hesitation.

The first bite is sweet and spicy. Then the savory flavor really kicks in. The saltiness typical of jeotgal isn't too strong, and because it's based on gochujang, it's easy to approach. Even jeotgal beginners can try it. The texture is chewy but not tough. I drizzle sesame oil over it, stir-fry it with rice, and eat it wrapped in seaweed. It's delicious.
