I finally got some new rice! It's Koshihikari rice from Niigata, and it's new rice! It's bound to be delicious! Many times, I've ordered rice with high expectations based on the picture of new rice, only to receive something that wasn't new rice. I've always been disappointed, but this time, I received new rice, even though the picture wasn't new rice! I'm so happy!

high quality rice
It's a little more expensive than other rice, but I choose this without hesitation. The taste is noticeably better when it's cooled down. This time, I received rice milled in December of 2025 (Reiwa 7).

I've been waiting for the new rice to arrive. It's delicious Japanese rice. However, the price has gone up by $15 since the middle of last year.

The rice arrived on October 17th and was milled on August 24th. I was expecting it to be a little older, so I'm happy that it was milled within two months. The rice isn't as sweet as I expected, but when I cooked it with about 10% more water, it had the chewy texture that's characteristic of Koshihikari.
I'm glad I was able to buy delicious Japanese rice at a better price than at Nikkei Supermarket!
The bag of Koshihikari rice was fragile and the rice spilled out when it arrived. I wish it was packaged a little more carefully.
