I can't usually find maitake mushrooms at my local Asian supermarket, so I was happy to find them here, and even better, they were on sale (though still $2.99), so I bought three. I immediately sautéed one in butter. I broke apart the rest and put them in the freezer.

Organic maitake mushrooms from a local New Jersey farm, very fresh.
Just like last time, one of the multiple items I purchased has a torn wrapper. I would think they would notice this during packaging, so why would they just put it in like that? While it's not a big deal, I always avoid torn items when buying things in stores, so it still bothers me.

I bought it because it was on sale and quite cheap, but I'm a little unsure how to use it! I heard that if you don't use it all, you can put it outside in the sun and it will turn into dried shiitake mushrooms!
