It had an artificial smell, like cheap crab crackers, and was not tasty at all. There was no hint of miso either. It was a far cry from the taste of crab hotpot you get in Japan. I added kelp stock, sake, miso, soy sauce, and even a lot of scallops as a stock, and it finally became edible.

This ingredient is supposed to be for a fish pot, but I cooked beef instead. But after opening it, it had a strange smell that I wasn't used to, so I added light soy sauce, and it improved the flavor. It would probably have been even better with scallions and bok choy.
